FILAMENT 3D PRINTING

FDM 3D PRINTING

What is FDM 3D printing?

FDM 3D Printing (Fused Deposition Modeling) is one of the most commonly used and popular 3D printing technologies. This method involves building objects layer by layer by extruding a melted plastic material from a print head mounted on a three-axis motion system.

How does it work?

01

Object Design

Before starting the printing process, you need a three-dimensional model of the object you want to print. This model can be created using 3D modeling software or downloaded from an online 3D model library.

02

Preparing the File for Printing

The three-dimensional model is then converted into a digital file specific to 3D printing formats, such as .STL or .OBJ files. This file is then uploaded into the 3D printer’s preparation software to be made ready for printing.

03

3D Printer Setup

In this step, printing parameters such as temperature, extrusion speed, and platform adhesion are set according to the type of filament and the characteristics of the object to be printed.

04

Object Printing:

Once the settings are configured, the 3D printer begins extruding the thermoplastic filament (usually PLA, ABS, or PETG) through the print head, building the object layer by layer according to the three-dimensional model.

05

Finishing and Post-Processing:

After the object is removed from the printer’s build platform, additional finishing may be required, such as removing the printing supports or sanding and painting the surfaces.

3D Printing Architectural Models

Advantages:

01.

Low Cost

The cost of materials, such as plastic filament, is relatively low, making FDM 3D printing an economical option for rapid prototyping and small-scale production.

02.

Versatility

It allows users to create complex and detailed objects from a wide range of plastic materials, opening doors for innovation and creativity in various industries.

03.

Material Diversity

FDM technology can be used with a wide variety of materials, including PLA, ABS, PETG, and many others.

04.

Flexibility

Users can create unique and customized objects by adjusting the dimensions, shapes, and features of the object according to the specific requirements of their project.

05.

Customization

FDM technology allows objects to be customized and adapted to individual needs and preferences.
